Electronic Research Notebooks Community

Hello All,

Just a reminder that an informal note of our discussion last month can be found here:

The Clausthal University of Technology

We thought it might be useful to have some informal drop-ins with no specific agenda. People can show up to ask a question of peers or share news. We can allocate an hour and if we only need a shorter slot that is fine.

We will try to post a drop-in session for circa September and if anyone keen to organise anything else feel free to use the mailing list to discuss that.

Community Discussion 16th June 2022

We are hosting a community discussion on 16th June 1000-1200 BST. Come along and hear some case studies and input to the discussion around what is required to progress use of electronic research notebooks.

OneNote as a Research Notebook

Hello All,

Some researchers here are happily using OneNote with Microsoft Teams as an online research notebook.

We are sharing our latest guide here in case of use to anyone else and perhaps help some users get started with a tool that satisfies some of their needs or step into exploring online research notebooks.  It is intentional generic and high level.

OneNote won’t satisfy everyone e.g. if you need author and witness signature for patent protection that is not out of the box so would need customisation or a different tool.

We hope to develop this further locally and perhaps also as a community activity with this as one input. We know a few other sites that have similar local guides.

We would be interested to hear views.  Perhaps there is interest in organising a discussion?
